Publication Acknowledgement

If you use NE-CAT beamlines for your research work, you are required to acknowledge NE-CAT in your publications.

Data Storage

Diffraction images are available on fast storage for download and processing via RAPD no less than one run (~4 months) after data collection.  Afterwards, diffraction images are available for download no less than one year before movement to long term storage.  Our long term storage is currently tape.  Retrieval of data from long term storage may take days to weeks, depending on the availability of staff.  All RAPD processed results are no longer available as the server at https://rapd.nec.aps.anl.gov/ has been decommissioned.  All RAPD2 processed results are available at https://rapd2.nec.aps.anl.gov/.  All physical processed data files are available for two years from the date of data collection.

Data Processing

RAPDv2 provides an updated beam center which is written into the header of the image file. On the commandline, type ‘more ‘ to view the header and look for x_beam and y_beam.  The numbers are in pixels.

site.def

NE-CAT provides access to HKL2000 for all local users at the beamline. If you need the def.site files for HKL 2000 for processing at your home institution, please download the appropriate beamline here.  If they do not work, double check your beam center. RAPDv2 provides an updated beam center which is written into the header of the image file. If you encounter further trouble, please contact your support person to see if they can help you in this matter.

XDS.INP

All data sets processed by RAPDv2 come with an XDS.INP file with a corrected beam center in the tar.bz2 archive.  Generic XDS.INP files are available for download for all NE-CAT beamlines and detectors for processing at your home institution. These files change rapidly, so if they do not work, please contact your support person to see if they can help you in this matter.

End of Experiment Form

Once you are done with data collection, don’t forget to fill out the APS End of Experiment Form (EEF).  Staff will also put out your dewar for return shipping, using the provided return shipping label on Monday through Thursday.
