On the same campus is the world’s most powerful x-ray machine – the Advanced Photon Source, where scientists from across the globe are working to identify the structures of complex proteins essential to life, and to the development of life-saving drugs.“We take those x-rays, we shine it through protein crystal, rather than a glass and we tell you the three-dimensional structure of what those proteins look like,” said Kay Perry, a research associate Cornell University.
